Iditarod Adventure
What adventurous traveler does not enjoy watching the Iditarod and we expect the aurora borealis? This tour is open only to travel groups of 8 or more. Although most tours are open to people this is not.
Day 1 2/27/08 – Arrive in Anchorage and explore at will. Hotel room is included, but meals are not.
Day 2 2/28/08 – You will be picked for their Alaska tour guides. His first stop is the Wildlife Center of Alaska, who cares for injured and orphaned wildlife. You might see bears, moose, buffalo (bison), elk or other here. Take a tram ride to the top of Mount Alyeska beautiful views, I personally have done this and enjoyed it.
Enjoy lunch at the ski resort of Girdwood. Back to Anchorage and enjoying the Mushers Banquet. This is your chance to experience the attractions of Alaska and possibly get autographs and photos.
Day 3 2/29/08 – Visit the kennel of an Iditarod veteran musher. Enjoy lunch and ride behind a team of sled dogs. Dinner and register for your hotel from Wasilla.
Day 4 3/01/08 – There are two solutions to the Iditarod, the ceremonial start in Anchorage and the official start. Today you will attend to the party and ceremonial start in Anchorage. Enjoy a visit to the Museum of History and Art Anchorage is also exhibited works by famous artists from Alaska.
Day 5 3/02/08 – The official start of the Iditarod in Mat-Su Valley Enjoy an outdoor barbecue in Wasilla and the official start of the race. Take photographs and joy as mushers begin a journey of 1150 miles to Nome. Try snowshoeing and cross country skiing. You will have dinner and return to your hotel in Wasilla.
Day 6 3/03/08 – Enjoy City of Talkeetna and Denali view is incredible. After lunch we take a flight over Denali. View the most picturesque areas of the park and desolate. Returned to Anchorage. Departures must be after 8 pm to guarantee arrival. If you wish to stay overnight at your hotel is not included in the price but can be arranged.
