hudson valley honeymoon

New York's Hudson, River Valley is a wonderful place to enjoy a little romantic getaway. Just minutes outside New York City, is a journey short of the city, but it feels like another world. Quaint bed and breakfasts, small inns and resorts are found in abundance.
New York, Route 9 to upstate New York and traveled through cities such as Hyde Park (home of President Franklin D. Roosevelt), Sleepy Hollow (home of the headless horseman), and Rhinebeck. A wonderful loop takes you across the Hudson and along the west side of river. You find plenty of picturesque villages full of antique shops and local restaurants.
We liked the Belvedere Mansion, near Rhinebeck, New York. This beautifully restored bed and breakfast had wonderful rooms, a restaurant service complete, and breakfast on the terrace overlooking the Hudson River (and, unfortunately, Route 9). We stayed one night at the mansion in one of the bedrooms period. It was splendid! The next night we stayed at the Hunt Lodge, who had a small room, but it was tasteful. We do not spend much time in the room anyway as spent most of the day at the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome Airshow see an old aircraft and take a ride in a restored biplane!
Across the river, is absolutely necessary to see Mohonk Mountain House. This is one of our favorite romantic getaway. Located near the summit of a mountain, with an old Inn in the world on the edge of a spring-fed lake. The inn itself is beautiful and feel as if I had been transported back in time when horses and carriages went the long way and private sectors. Mohonk has been updated to a world class hotel and resort with a large dining room, a field of ice skating outdoors, miles trails, and a new spa and gym.
Just south on Route 9W find one of the largest flea markets we've seen! Located near the town of Newburgh, You will find thousands of sellers in this place outdoors. There is also an indoor section, too, so the market can remain open throughout the year.
Thus, for a quick getaway from the city, take a short trip up the Hudson River, where you'll find world-class resorts, wonderful shops, and a strange bed and breakfasts.
