The modern city of Rome as a legend, was built on seven hills. A city that is accustomed to foreign influences, is known for its architectural treasures. There is much more to Rome, we know. Here are some interesting facts to give you an idea of Roman culture, history and treasures.

1. The birth of the city Eternal Rome which was founded in 753BC is celebrated every year by the Romans in 21 April. The celebrations include fireworks, shows of gladiators, traditional Roman banquet and parade.

7. The Colosseum in Rome, a huge amphitheater that could seat 50,000 people is one of the seven wonders of the world.

8. Monumental Cemetery of the Capuchins used the bones of over 4,000 Capuchin monks, some completely intact skeletons to create symbolic works of art in its series of chapels.

9. The Vatican Museums is a huge complex of museums with more than 1,000 museums and galleries such as the Gallery of Tapestries and Etruscan and Egyptian museums that are full of works of art collected by successive popes. It's largest museum complex in the world.

10. St. Peter was a structure that was for almost 1,000 years, until that was close to collapse and was rebuilt by 1500 and 1600. It is an immense structure that displays the work of some of the greatest Italian artists including Raphael, Michelangelo and Maderno.
